Goodweather Campaign Launches First Television Ad as Momentum Builds in D.C. Mayoral Race
Washington, D.C. —The Goodweather for Mayor campaign today announced the launch of its first television advertisement, marking a major milestone in the campaign’s growing citywide outreach effort ahead of the June 16 Democratic primary election.
The ad, which is now airing across the District, highlights Gary Goodweather’s vision for a safer, more affordable, and more self determined Washington, D.C. while emphasizing the campaign’s grassroots momentum and expanding coalition of supporters across all eight wards.

“Our campaign has always been rooted in the people of Washington, D.C.,” said Gary Goodweather, candidate for Mayor of the District of Columbia. “This moment reflects the work residents, volunteers, and supporters have put in every single day to build a campaign focused on affordability, safety, accountability, and opportunity for every neighborhood in our city.”
Since launching in February 2025, the Goodweather campaign has built a broad based grassroots coalition centered on direct voter outreach, community engagement, and sustained organizing efforts throughout the District. The campaign has hosted listening sessions, neighborhood conversations, community forums, and volunteer led outreach efforts in every ward.
The campaign previously became the first mayoral campaign in D.C. history led by a candidate who has never held or run for public office to qualify for the Fair Elections Program. The campaign has also submitted nearly 5,000 petition signatures to qualify for the ballot, more than double the required threshold, and has received support from more than a thousand donors across the District.
“These milestones are important, but they are not the end goal,” Goodweather said. “They reflect a movement of people who believe Washington can expect more from its leadership. Polls will change and headlines will change, but what will not change is our commitment to showing up, earning trust, and fighting for every community in this city.”
The campaign encouraged supporters to share the ad online, engage with the campaign across social media platforms, and contribute to expanding the television buy as the election approaches.
Gary Goodweather for Mayor is a grassroots, Fair Elections campaign committed to building a safer, stronger, and more self determined Washington, D.C.
