Autonomy

Protecting DC’s Right to Self-Governance

Washington, DC is home to over 700,000 residents — more people than some states — yet our voices are often ignored or overridden by federal interference. We pay taxes, serve in the military, and contribute to the nation, but we are denied full representation in Congress and too often blocked from making our own decisions.

I believe self-determination is a fundamental right. Washingtonians deserve to govern ourselves without outside control.

Where We Stand

  • Full Voting Representation
I support achieving a voting seat in the House of Representatives as the most immediate and achievable step.

  • Senate Representation & Statehood
Long-term, DC deserves two Senators and full representation. While the path towards Statehood is complex, Gary will advocate fiercely for equal rights and keep building momentum toward full representation, no matter what

  • Protecting Home Rule
DC’s mayor and council must have the power to set policies on public safety, budgeting, and services without interference from Congress or the White House. Gary will stand up against federal overreach, whether it’s on policing, criminal justice, or local spending.

  • Expanding Local Autonomy
Autonomy also means making sure our government works for us here at home — with more responsive services, community-driven decisions, and accountability to the people of DC, not outside politicians.

My Commitment

  • I will fight relentlessly. DC deserves nothing less than equal representation.

  • While fighting for statehood, I will immediately pursue practical paths like securing House representation.

  • As Mayor, I will never allow DC’s future to be dictated by those who don’t live here.

This campaign is about ensuring that DC’s future is decided by DC residents — and no one else.

DC Lives Here. Expect More.
